چکیده

A constant-density approach, which corrects intermediate density errors by adjusting the half-time-step velocity with exact projection, is proposed for the multi-phase SPH method developed in our previous work (J. Comput. Physics, 227:264-278, 2007). As no prescribed reference pressure is required, the present approach introduces smaller numerical viscosity and allows to simulate flows with unprecedentedly large density ratios by the projection SPH method. Numerical examples for TaylorGreen flow, capillary waves and for Rayleigh-Taylor instability are presented and compared to theoretical solutions or references from literature.

An incompressible multi-phase SPH method

An incompressible multi-phase SPH method is proposed. In this method, a fractional time-step method is introduced to enforce both the zero-density-variation condition and the velocity-divergence-free condition at each full time step. To obtain sharp density and viscosity discontinuities in an incompressible multi-phase flow a new multi-phase projection formulation, in which the discretized grad...

Simulation of Gravity Wave Propagation in Free Surface Flows by an Incompressible SPH Algorithm

This paper presents an incompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) model to simulate wave propagation in a free surface flow. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved in a Lagrangian framework using a three-step fractional method. In the first step, a temporary velocity field is provided according to the relevant body forces. This velocity field is renewed in the second step to include t...

Amodified SPH approach for fluids with large density differences

We introduce a modified SPH approach that is based on discretising the particle density instead of the mass density. This approach makes it possible to use SPH particles with very different masses to simulate multi-phase flows with large differences inmass density between the phases. We test our formulationwith a simple advection problem, with sound waves encountering a density discontinuity, an...

Performance Comparison of Parallel PCISPH and WCSPH

In this report we present performance measurements of our parallel predictive-corrective incompressible SPH (PCISPH) implementation. PCISPH is an incompressible fluid simulation method based on the Lagrangian SPH model. In this method, incompressibility is enforced by using a prediction-correction scheme to determine the particle pressures. The information about density fluctuations is actively...

Numerical investigation of free surface flood wave and solitary wave using incompressible SPH method

Simulation of free surface flow and sudden wave profile are recognized as the most challenging problem in computational hydraulics. Several Eulerian/Lagrangian approaches and models can be implemented for simulating such phenomena in which the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method (SPH) is categorized as a proper candidate. The incompressible SPH (ISPH) method hires a precise incompressible hy...
